Clive’s Pies, one of the pioneering British award winning brands in the plant-based category, is launching two new products and one re-branded product, exclusively into Waitrose on the 14th of September.
• Red Pepper Harissa Quiche with a pumpkin seed crumb. Weight: 380g. Retail price: £4.25
• Broccoli & Pesto Quiche with cashews, basil and pumpkin seeds. Weight: 165g. Retail price: £2.65
• Coronation Chickpea Puff Pie with creamy coconut and apricot. Weight: 235g. Retail price: £3.50
All three products are vegan, certified organic and the packaging is plastic free. The Red Pepper and Harissa Quiche and the Broccoli and Pesto Quiche both now have a plant-based window instead of traditional plastic.
“We’re delighted to be the first supermarket to launch more of Clive’s tasty plant-based products”, says Catherine Shacklock, Partner & Buyer for Waitrose’s chilled vegan and vegetarian category.
She continues:
“Customer reviews on our current Clive’s range shows great loyalty and we are really excited to share the next range of deliciously innovative development with them.”
Clive’s Pies have been at the forefront of plant-based innovation for more than 30 years and are the innovation leaders in the UK for plant-based pies and quiches.
Heading up Clive’s innovation team since April 2022 is Craig Blackborough, NPD Manager at Clive’s Pies. He comments about the new products:
“Product development at Clive’s is a unique experience. Our new Red Pepper Harissa Quiche was created for sharing. We created the product based on trending flavour profiles to make it something you will want want to share with your family, friends and co-workers. Love is part of every product ingredient list, and we’ve put a lot of love and care into creating our products.”
New plant-based window
The 100% plant-based and organic Clive’s Pies products come in plastic-free packaging as consumers turn to products delivering on both sustainability and ethics.
“We are super proud of the way our products look but customers couldn’t get a proper eyes on the pies before they opened the box. We wanted to pop a window on our scrummy new Red Pepper and Harissa Quiche and our re-worked Broccoli and Pesto Quiche so everyone could see the delicious new toppings”, says Esther Pearson, Clive’s chief pie-maker and Managing Director.
She adds:
“The Red Pepper and Harissa Quiche and the Broccoli and Pesto Quiche both now have a plant-based window instead of traditional plastic. We believe this sets us apart from the rest of the category.
Not wanting to jeopardise Clive’s plastic free packaging credentials, Clive’s Technical Manager, Emma Chesbrough, was really excited when she discovered a see through window made from plants. She comments:
“It is also a natural and renewable material, certified as both home and industrial compostable and readily recycled alongside paper. So we have a window plus we are still respecting the planet wherever we can. “
