Nozama collaborates with Nestlé in the recovery of capsules of Nescafé Dolce Gusto
In collaboration with the London-based start-up Nozama, the food company is implementing this initiative at first at the Nestlé Market located in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona). By using Nozama’s technology it will be possible to track the coffee capsules used and returned by consumers. This tracker connects consumers with the brand by ensuring their participation in the waste management process.
Nestlé, through its Nescafé Dolce Gusto brand, continues to advance its commitment to recycling and sustainability.
Nozama, the London-based global sustainability technology company, has partnered with Nestlé to implement its tracker and motivate consumers to take the Dolce Gusto capsules to the recycling point. This tracker represents a revolution in the recycling industry, connecting consumers with their favourite brand and ensuring that they are part of the waste management process by helping to give a second life to the products consumed.
With this new alliance, the Nestlé Market facility, located in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), will be the first store to have the tracker – a software that adds transparency to the process of recovery and recycling of coffee capsules by allowing their traceability. Consumers that use the tracker will be able to know what benefits for the environment they achieve through this small gesture.
Consumers can now download the NDG Recycling app, available both in the Apple Store and on Google Play, through which they can keep a personalized track of the number of capsules they deposit at the recycling point and the environmental contribution that this act entails. By weighing the capsules that are going to be recycled on a smart scale – which will show a QR code that is scanned through the NDG Recycling app to transfer the data – users can accumulate credits that can be exchanged for prizes and discounts in the same Nestlé Market store.
Daniel Garcia, co-founder and CTO of Nozama, says: “We are proud that Nozama Technology is enabling Nescafé Dolce Gusto to break new ground and give consumers the chance to learn how the entire supply chain is committed to minimising waste.”
Berta Cruz, head of the business of NESCAFE Dolce Gusto, says: “Thanks to this technological collaboration, our consumers will see the quantified impact of taking their used capsules to a collection point, thus collaborating in the reduction of waste and promoting the circular economy.”
This collaboration is also intended to encourage consumers of Nescafé Dolce Gusto to move their capsules to a collection point through the Plastiks Marketplace, an innovative platform that encourages waste collection.
