SELENIS PORTUGAL S.A. RECEIVES THE GREEN LABEL CERTIFICATE FROM PALLET RETURN SYSTEM

For more than 20 years, PRS, provider of pallet pooling services, has organized the controlled re-use and shared use of CP-type
pallets for the European polymer industry. Guided by itssustainability ambitions, Selenis Portugal has partnered with PRS to provide
pallets that come from sustainable sources that are either FSC or PEFC certified.

Twenty-five years ago, together with the polymer industry, PRS designed a standard pallet suitable for a circular system. PRS set up a pan-European network of approximately thirty third-party PRS pallet suppliers for new pallets and forty depots to collect and repair the pallets in order to supply them to the next customer. The company operates a dedicated pooling IT platform and a central Collection Service Centre to keep track of the pallets and to contact the 15,000 locations where they end up.

The PRS Return System introduced the PRS Green Label to emphasize the joint responsibility of all parties in the circular system; recognizing those companies that actively contribute to this long standing truly circular model.

SELENIS EFFORTS TOWARDS CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Recollecting materials for their reuse and recycling is one of the challenges of the circular economy, a topic that has become central not only within the company, but to the whole world. Selenis proudly reports that the company has been certified by PRS for their efforts in their supply chain to accelerate this transition.

The Green Label serves to show that all the partners involved in the polymer industry play an important role in the system. Cooperation is a must to achieve a circular economy, which is challenging. For this reason, at Selenis they consider it is important to deliver the message to their clients and demonstrate the benefits that this system brings to closing the loop.
Additionally, thanks to this system, Selenis and their stakeholders can obtain several benefits, reducing costs and their ecological footprint by minimizing C02 and avoiding waste.

This commitment is part of their sustainability strategy that aims to bring sustainable solutions that support the advancement of a circular economy and considerably reduce plastic waste. Selenis’ long history in the polymers industry feeds their know-how and experience to achieve sustainability in both the solutions they offer to their customers as well as in their own operations. The company is devoted to playing their role in society’s collective response to the challenges they face, by jointly working across the
value chain to create tangible solutions.
