Time is running out to enter the European Carton Excellence Award

Entries to the 25th edition of the European Carton Excellence Award must be submitted ahead of the 28th May deadline!

The carton industry has until 28th May to enter this year’s European Carton Excellence Award. The prestigious competition, jointly hosted by Pro Carton and the ECMA, is in its 25th year and will see the cartonboard supply chain come together to celebrate a quarter-century of innovation in sustainable packaging.

This year the standard of entries to Europe’s leading packaging design competition is expected to be greater than ever. The winners – set to be announced in September – will have been directly responsible for creating some of the most beautiful and innovative cartonboard packaging solutions that have launched in recent times.

The revered competition is open to designs crafted from recycled fibre or virgin fibre.  As well as the Carton of the Year there will also be special awards for Innovation and Save the Planet while a Public Award will be presented based on the result of consumers’ votes.

The independent judging panel of industry experts is again led by chairman Satkar Gidda, who had 30 years of experience at brand and packaging design consultancy SiebertHead.  He will be joined by Susanne Lippitsch of SL Design, Dr Janet Shipton of Packknack and Jean-René Truttmann, Global Strategic Sourcing Manager at General Mills.

Tony Hitchin, General Manager of Pro Carton, said: “The European Carton Excellence Award entries never fail to disappoint, and we have high expectations for this year. As always, we’re going to see a range of ground-breaking innovations that cover a wide range of applications in the packaging arena. The awards ceremony will be a night to remember as we will be celebrating its 25th anniversary and we are hoping that we can reunite the cartonboard industry in person for the first time since the pandemic.  For those, that can’t be there we will again be streaming the awards live on social media.”
